Picking an Affiliate Product for Your Blog

One way of making money with your blog is through an affiliate program.  You pick a product that relates to your blog theme or topic that offers a good commission, then you write articles or content for your site related to your blog theme and product.

When you pick an affiliate, it is important that you determine which product you will profit best from based on the frequency of the sale of the product, and you will need to take a look at the competition. There are several types of affiliate programs and some will offer you more money from a sale than others. On digital products the commission usually ranges between 50% and 75%.   

If you sell one product four times a year from a little known company that gives you $100 per sale or sell a well known product 3 times a week at the rate of $10 per sale, you are going make more money with the $10 per sale product.

You are going to find the well known companies with very well known products will offer a very small profit per sale because they are established and know their product is going to sell. These commissions can sometimes be as low as 1%.  Small, unknown companies, on the other hand, need promotion and are likely to be more generous in their commission structure.

An important consideration when picking an affiliate product to promote on your blog is to pick a product that will be of interest to those who are  likely to visit your blog. If your blog topic is health, a good product to choose might be a vitamin line, or a health drink.

Lastly, there are two main ways to find an affiliate company for your blog. You can do a web search for affiliate programs compliment  your blog theme or you can sign up with sites like Clickbank, Commission Junction, or AffiliateGuide, to name just three of many, and choose a product you are interested in promoting.
